The Story

Who doesn't love asian food? Anything that involves soy sauce, garlic and sesame oil is an instant favorite in my book. This recipe was simple to put together and the flavor is out of this world good. Steak has to be done right. It has to be tender and juicy and melt in your mouth. Rump or Sirloin tip is the perfect cut for these babies!

0.70 kg rump or top sirloin steak
1 red onion
⅔ cup (31.68 Teaspoons) soy sauce
6 garlic cloves minced
¼ cup (12 Teaspoons) sesame oil
½ cup (24 Teaspoons) vegetable oil
½ cup (24 Teaspoons) sugar
1 tbsp (3 Teaspoons) grated ginger
2 tbsp (6 Teaspoons) sesame seeds
sliced green onions for garnish
skewers

Method

  1. Cut steak into one inch cubes. Cut the red onion into large chunks and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl whisk together soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, vegetable oil, sugar, ginger and sesame seeds. Add the steak and toss to coat in marinade. Marinate for 3 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to high heat. Thread the meat and the red onion onto the skewers. Grill for 8-10 minutes until the meat is done to desired liking. Nice and charred but tender so the grill hast to be HOT.
  4. Cover with foil and rest for 15-20 minutes.
